Untitled is a rough sketch of a television set. Unlike other drawings by Nam June Paik, however, the television is portrayed as a three-dimensional object, with a realistic button and an antenna, as well as two figures on the screen. Paik tore this drawing diagonally into two pieces and attached them slightly apart on another sheet of a sketchbook. The composition of cutting the picture in half to emphasize segmentation can be seen not only in Paik’s drawings but also in his video works, most remarkably in the Cinéma Metaphysique series where he divided his body into different frames and reconstructed it.
