Interview Project
Nam June Paik Art Center Interviews is an oral history research project exploring Paik’s life and art. Nam June Paik Art Center has collected memories on Paik in form of interviews from Paik’s colleagues and friends since 2008. Interviewees include Merce Cunningham, Ben Patterson, Christo, Alison Knowles, Russell Connor, Mary Bauermeister, Shuya Abe, Wulf Herzogenrath, Takehisa Kosugi, Jung-sung Lee and among others.
Nam June Paik Art Center Interviews include publishing interview script in form of monograph. Highlights of publication include Wulf Herzogenrath(2012), who served as director of the Kunsthalle Bremen, Paik’s fellow artists Peter Brötzmann and Takehisa Kosugi(2014), and Paik’s technicians Shuya Abe and Jung-sung Lee(2016). Letters, Mary Bauermeister(2015) that includes letters exchanged between Paik and Bauermeister was published in a new format of a book. Interviews with three media art conservation specialists together with texts on the topic of media art(2013), and interviews with Christine Van Assche, Don Foresta and François Helt about Paik’s achievements in France(2018) were also published respectively.
